Since 1999, a veterinary agreement has been concluded between the EU and Canada on sanitary measures to protect human and animal health in trade in live animals and animal products. That agreement was suspended on 21 September 2017, while the provisions and results of the agreement were transposed into the Comprehensive Economic Agreement (CETA), which became provisionally applicable on that date. 4. The exporting Member shall provide appropriate scientific and technical information to provide objectively that its action achieves the appropriate level of protection established by the importing Member. Such information may include, inter alia, references to relevant international standards or relevant risk assessments carried out by the importing Member or another Member.
